matt gibson

After graduating in Architecture from Deakin University in 1997 Matt Gibson worked within various architectural and interior design offices both in Australia & the UK before setting up his own practice in 2003. Matt worked in Australia in the Architectus office before travelling internationally and spending an extended period in London where he worked with design luminaries such as David Collins on boutique retail & hospitality projects. Following extensive world travel Gibson returned to Melbourne to work in smaller practice on high end residential homes and hospitality projects. Matt has had an intimate experience of various project types including large scale Institutional, Commercial and Transport Architecture & Master Planning through to smaller scale bespoke Residential and Retail design.

Matt’s influences show in his work - merging the disciplines of architecture and interior design. His creative use of materials, bespoke design and ability to showcase light (natural or artificial) are seen as standout attributes. Gibson has received a number of awards privately and also within Practice.

Matt Gibson is a guest tutor at Melbourne University & Deakin University’s Schools of Architecture and has been guest speaker at Design-Ex Australia. He is a Registered Architect, a member of the Australian Institute of Architects and Design Institute of Australia.
